The original Gravity rack works for renters and fighters who need pull-ups, dips, knee raises, and rows without drilling a wall. “Portable” means tool-free and packable, not light or compact: it weighs 19 kg, fills a bulky bag, can wobble, and is only 192 cm tall without the extension kit.

A fighter does not need a calisthenics playground. The useful question is whether this rack can cover upper-back, grip, trunk, and pressing work in a room that must turn back into living space. It can. The catch is that packing away a 19 kg steel frame after every session gets old faster than the product photos suggest.
The facts that affect the buy
- 19 kg steel frame; 116 cm top bar; 60 cm between dip bars
- 192 cm standard height; 220 cm with extension kit; 120 cm compact setup
- 110 kg maximum user weight without extension; brand says 200 kg with extension
- No tools; carry bag included; 5-year defect warranty
- Owner reports put setup around five minutes once familiar, but describe the bag as bulky
Portable versus convenient
The frame breaks down without tools and fits the supplied bag. That makes it movable between a garage, garden, club, or rental. It does not make it pleasant public-transit gear. One owner called the bag bulky; the full rack weighs about as much as a checked suitcase.
If the rack will move once a week, portability is real. If it must disappear after every 30-minute session, a doorway bar or rings may get used more often.
Height is the first fit check
At 192 cm, a user around 178 cm reported toes touching the floor in a dead hang. That does not stop pull-ups with bent knees, but it changes hanging leg raises and full dead-hang work. The extension kit raises the bar to 220 cm and adds stability and capacity.
Measure ceiling height as well as athlete height. A 220 cm frame needs room above the bar for the head and any muscle-up work.
Wobble and grip are the real owner complaints
The brand itself does not promise zero wobble. A current owner says the base can feel a little unstable without supports on some movements and calls the bar somewhat thick. The same owner uses it most days and recommends it, which is a useful balanced signal.
For strict pull-ups, dips, rows, and controlled knee raises, some movement is manageable. Kipping, violent transitions, and careless swinging ask a portable pin-fit frame to behave like a bolted rig. That is the wrong expectation.
Our buying call for fighters
Buy the original rack when the space cannot take permanent hardware and the user is well below 110 kg. Add the extension kit for full hangs, more stability, or a heavier user. Buy the Advanced rack when a 32 mm top bar, 200 kg rating, built-in dips, and more secure hand screws justify the higher price.
Choose the doorway bar when budget and storage beat exercise variety. For most boxers, a door bar plus floor work is enough; the rack earns its footprint when dips, levers, rows, and ring work will actually be used.
Three ways to make the decision
Best pack-away full frame

Original Portable Rack
Why: No tools, pull-ups plus dips, 19 kg, bag included.
Watch: 192 cm standard height, 110 kg base limit, some wobble.
Better stability and capacity

Advanced Portable Rack
Why: 220 cm, 200 kg, 32 mm top bar, built-in dips, hand screws.
Watch: 23 kg and slower setup; higher price.
Best cheap small-space option

Universal Door Bar
Why: 72–95 cm fit range, 120 kg tested load, seconds to install.
Watch: No dips or rows; door fit and correct install are critical.
Evidence base: live Gravity specs, two independent review sites, recent owner discussion, and comparison with Gravity’s Advanced and doorway models. We did not hands-on test this rack.
